Taunton, MA, January 2024– Greater Attleboro Taunton Regional Transit Authority (GATRA) will begin Sunday Service across all fixed route buses, effective February 5^th, 2024. GATRA began offering Sunday Service on select routes in mid-October 2023. As of this full rollout in early February, Sunday Service will now mirror the existing Saturday Service offered across GATRA communities. “GATRA is grateful to the local legislative delegation for their assistance in securing this additional funding. Sunday Service has long been a goal of the Advisory Board and it is exciting to see its implementation,” said Administrator Mary Ellen DeFrias. 

GATRA has conducted numerous customer surveys, including GATRA’s 2020 Comprehensive Regional Transit Plan as well as Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District (SRPEDD)’s work on the Area’s Long Range Regional Transportation Plan and Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan. Through these surveys, GATRA and SRPEDD identified a top priority for riders is access to GATRA services seven days a week. GATRA has taken the necessary technological, staffing, and financial steps to bring this project to fruition and is excited to offer this much needed service to the GATRA community. 

Sunday Service will be implemented on all fixed-routes, including ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) complementary paratransit service. GATRA GO Coastline, Seacoast, and United currently operate on Sundays as well.  

Updates will be made soon to the GATRA website and to printed schedules to reflect Sunday Service changes as well as other service changes effective February 5^th, 2024.  Please visit www.gatra.org for more information and route-specific details.  

About GATRA: The Greater Attleboro Taunton Regional Transit Authority (GATRA) was created in 1976 to develop, finance, and contract for the operations of mass transportation facilities and services within an ever-expanding area, which includes 30 diverse communities stretching from Southern Norfolk County and Northern Bristol County, all the way to Plymouth County and the South Shore.
