Starting October 1, 2025*, GATRA FIXED ROUTE AND ADA COMPLEMENTARY PARATRANSIT SERVICES will be fare free.

Fare Free Transit Service is made possible through funding awarded in the Governor’s FY26 Budget. Fare Free service will continue through June 30, 2026.

*If changes in funding availability occur, this date may have to change. Changes to the planned date will be posted on fixed route buses and on GATRA’s website.


FAQ about GATRA’s Fare Free Service

Question: When will fare free service start?
Answer: October 1, 2025

Question: What services will be fare free?
Answer: Fixed route bus service and ADA complementary paratransit service will be fare free. Dial-A-Ride and GATRA GO service fares will remain the same.

Question: How long will fare free service last?
Answer: Based on the funding currently available, it will last until at least June 30, 2026.

Question: What if I bought a pass already or have money or passes on the GATRA Pay app?
Answer: GATRA fares are non refundable. However, if the pass has not been activated yet it can be saved to use in the future. Any funds or multiple ride passes on the GATRA Pay app will stay in your account for future use. If you have an activated pass, (31-day or 1-day) those passes will expire when the number of days they are good for runs out and can’t be saved for later use.

Question: Why aren’t Dial-A-Ride and GATRA GO fares also free?
Answer: The parameters for the funding being used to reimburse GATRA for the fares specifically states that it can only be used for fixed route and ADA complementary paratransit services.

Question: What if I bought a pass already or have money on the GATRA Pay app?
